“I was suffering from lack of cartilage in both of my knees. Walking was one of my favorite activities. This was no longer possible since the knee pain made walking so difficult. My right knee was replaced in April of 2009, and the left knee in January of 2011. Having the surgeries has given me my mobility back. I can walk without pain.”
--Richard S.

Is Joint Replacement the Answer For You?

Patients meet with a board-certified orthopedic specialist for consultation and examination to determine the joint condition, source of pain, and best treatment options, including a full range of non-surgical and arthroscopic treatment alternatives.

Pre-Operative Education

Informed patients recover more quickly and more completely. A specially trained Patient Navigator will provide instruction for joint replacement patients in what they can expect to experience and what will be expected of them during the recovery and rehabilitation process.

Advanced Technology Surgery

Surgery is performed in Peconic Bay Medical Center's award-winning Kanas Center for Advanced Surgery, which offers state-of-the-art surgical suites designed to maximize sterility, surgical efficiency and patient safety.

Recovery & Rehabilitation

Physical therapy starts almost immediately following surgery, within hours of leaving the Operating Room. Patients are housed in advanced-amenity private rooms adjacent to PBMC's ultra-modern Cary Grossman Center for Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation.

Aftercare & Follow-Up

The average hospital stay for Knee Replacement is one day, and three days for Hip Replacement. The Nurse Navigator works with each patient to establish a personalized post-discharge rehabilitation plan. PBMC offers acute, sub-acute, out-patient rehabilitation and in-home therapy service options, customizable to suit every patient.
