Transitional Year Residency Program

Program Director: Robert Scanlon, MD: Program Director, Transitional Year

Robert Scanlon 160x209.jpgThank you for your interest in the Transitional Year Residency Program at Peconic Bay Medical Center. Our residency was established in 2010 and we offer 12 highly competitive PGY-1 positions per year. We are sponsored by our institution’s Family Medicine residency. In 2022, we achieved Continued Accreditation through the ACGME. We accept both MD and DO applicants, who may apply via ERAS and are selected via the NRMP.

We offer a unique training environment that seeks to establish a strong clinical foundation with the opportunity to personalize your training with ample elective time. We pride ourselves on finding the right balance of core education and the opportunity to broaden your exposure.

Over the past few years, our residents have matched into Anesthesiology, PM&R, Radiation-Oncology, Pathology, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Neurology, Psychiatry, Internal Medicine, Dermatology and Diagnostic Radiology in highly competitive institutions across the country. We take tremendous pride in having confidently trained our former Transitional Year residents towards preparing for their future training.

Whichever specialty you eventually pursue, your Transitional Year training at Peconic Bay Medical Center will help continue to guide you towards clinical excellence, humanism, and leadership.

Sincerely,
Robert Scanlon, MD
