RIVERHEAD, NY – Peconic Bay Medical Center- Northwell Health Jamesport Triathlon will return to Jamesport for the 2nd time this summer. This race is known to be the largest triathlon on the north fork of Long Island. It is the only sprint distance triathlon. This is the perfect race for people who are just getting into the sport or for seasoned veterans who like the challenge of a quick race.

Law enforcement personnel have been busy planning their part of the operations, looking to minimize the impacts on motorists and the rest of the area’s regular operations while also trying to keep the athletes and spectators safe. The athletes will start and finish at the South Jamesport Beach. Signage went up on Memorial Weekend to inform the community of the race and to notify caution.

The event is scheduled on July 10, 2016 in Jamesport. The triathlon will begin with a 500meter swim in the pristine Peconic Bay, followed by a 16 mile bike ride touring the north forks beauty and ending with a 3.1 mile run through the local seaside community in Jamesport.

“Last year we had 300 athletes register and participate and this year we are taking a maximum of 420 athletes. We want to grow this event slowly and safely.  Currently, there are only 70 spots left until we sellout,” said Corey Byrne Roberts.
