RIVERHEAD, NY (MARCH 21) – Peconic Bay Medical Center (PBMC) has announced that Luis Davila Santini, MD and John Kassotis, MD have been named the new chair of surgery and chair of cardiology, respectively. As department chairs, they will provide senior oversight of hospital-based services at PBMC.

“Both doctors have shown the utmost commitment to expanding services and providing the highest quality medical care, thus further expanding our footprint and positive impact on the East End,” said  Amy Loeb, EdD, MBA, RN, executive director PBMC. “We are excited about their addition and look forward to working with them.”

Before joining PBMC, Dr. Davila Santini spent the last 11 years at South Shore University Hospital where he was named the Director of Vascular Surgery Services for the Eastern Region of Northwell Health. He developed a network of surgeons in this leadership role, providing state-of-the-art emergent and elective vascular services to five regional hospitals. Dr. Davila Santini will be working in PBMC’s award-winning state-of-the-art surgical facilities at the Kanas Center for Advanced Surgery. At the Kanas Center, PBMC’s surgeons perform minimally invasive, advanced, general, and robotic surgery.

“I’m honored to be able to start this new position at Peconic Bay Medical Center,” said Davila Santini. “As chair I will aim for our department to continue to reach the high standards of patient care that the medical center is known for, as well as grow and expand the services of the department.”

PBMC is also excited to announce Dr. Kassotis as the newest chair of cardiology. His areas of specialty include general cardiology, electrophysiology, and heart failure. Throughout his career, Dr. Kassotis has held numerous roles in his fields of expertise, including the Director of the Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Section at New York Methodist Hospital. He later became the Clinical Professor and Director of the Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Laboratory and Section at SUNY Downstate Medical Center.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the award-winning cardiac services team at Peconic Bay Medical Center,” said Kassotis. “It is my goal to continue to expand our cardiac footprint and to provide the best possible care in the region to our patients.”

PBMC’s home for cardiology and coronary care is at the Kanas Regional Heart Center. The Center provides world-class cardiac care and contains a Cardiac Cath Lab as well as an electrophysiology suite.
