Over 100,000 calls annually.Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Switchboard Department: Your 24/7 Communication TeamEach day, our Switchboard Department is taking on an extraordinary responsibility. The information they transmit throughout the hospital gets people to the right places at the right time. This support is critical to our clinical team when it comes to saving lives.Located on the 3rd floor, the Switchboard not only answers thousands of callsthey also track fire and oxygen alarms while simultaneously monitoring panels. Additionally, they are responsible for every safety code you hear. In healthcare, codes are essential to delivering fast and accurate life-saving care. The code system is also fundamental to the safety of everyone on our staff.Even while juggling immense responsibilities, the Switchboard team finds time to go above and beyond for our patients. They played the wedding march over the loudspeaker system so a patient could get married as part of their last request. They also play a lullabye each time a new baby is born. This display of compassion is part of what makes Peconic Bay Medical Center a special place to work and to heal. When it comes to caring for our patients, every moment matters. And we couldnt do it without our fantastic team in the Switchboard Department. Thank you for all that you do!(l-r): Michael Jaskot, Lead Switchboard Operator, Judy McGill, Switchboard Operator5'
